Day 1-3: Bucharest

Welcome to Romania!
You are, for sure, impatient for the start of the journey, full of energy. So, after arriving in the airport we will be transferred to the hotel and for the next 2 days we will enjoy Bucharest: the Palace of parliament, the Village Museum and the old city are just a few highlights.

Romanian legend tells that the city of Bucharest was founded on the banks of the Dambovita River by a shepherd named Bucur, whose name literarily means "joy." His flute music reportedly dazzled the people and his hearty wine from nearby vineyards made him endearing to the local traders, who named the place after him.

TULCEA – DANUBE DELTA

Day 4

Today we leave Bucharest for Tulcea, our point of departure for the Danube Delta. On the way to Tulcea, we will have a stop for a wine tasting at the Murfatlar vineyard.

Blessed with one of the most suitable natural settings, Murfatlar is one of the most famous Romanian vineyards. Its most popular wines are Cabernet Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. We will have the opportunity to purchase bottles of your favorite wines, as well as local souvenirs.

Arriving in Tulcea, we will be transferred by motor boat to Crisan in the middle of the Danube Delta, where we will spend the next days.

Day 5, Trip: Sulina Canal – Fortuna Lake – Ciobanica Lake – Maliuc – Crisan

The Danube River flows into the Black Sea, by three brooks: Chilia, Sulina and Sfantu Gheorghe, forming The Danube Delta, one of the best preserved deltas in the continent.
After breakfast we will begin to explore the Danube Delta in small motorboats that will take us right into the heart of the delta.
We will start from the Sulina canal, the shortest of the three canals, but the main passenger navigation route. We will see the Fortuna Lake, Ciobanica Lake and the surroundings of Maliuc (one of the youngest settlements). Fortuna Lake, one of the largest lakes, is pure paradise for bird watchers. Pairs of swans, cormorants, egrets and wild ducks mingle with other species while white pelicans often gather in huge numbers to feed and build their nests around this lake.

Day 9

Trip: Constanta – Sinaia - Brasov

Peles Castle is considered by many one of the most beautiful castles in all Europe. It was built at the initiative of King Carol I, to serve as a summer residence, invested with political, cultural and symbolic functions. It was the final resting place for several Romanian monarchs including King Carol I, who died here in 1914. After 1914, the Peles Castle has still functioned as a representation site and a museum, but without being an actual residence.

The peace of the small settlement or the excitement of everyday events.

We will arrive in Brasov and after checking in at the hotel we will go for a walk to the Town Hall Square where we will admire the famous and well preserved baroque structures. We will take a walk inside the Black Church, the largest gothic church in Romania. Its name derives from damages caused by the Great Fire of 1689, when flames and smoke blackened its walls. Its interior is impressive and well-kept and houses one of the largest organs in Eastern Europe.

BRASOV

Day 10

Today we will see the most famous site in Romania: Bran Castle, the residence of the famous Vlad Drăculea (Vlad the Impaler).

Surrounded by an aura of mystery and legend, Bran Castle is now a museum open to tourists, displaying art and furniture collected by Queen Marie of Romania. At the bottom of the hill is a small open-air museum park exhibiting traditional Romanian peasant structures (cottages, barns, etc.) from across the country.

The second part of the day is dedicated to the wonderful landscape of Moeciu, an environment of fresh air and tranquility situated at an altitude of 1100 meters. The entire area is full of history and legends.

We will also visit the Rasnov Citadel (once owned by Mircea the Old, Prince Drăculea's grandfather) which is a historical monument and important landmark in Romania.

The citadel was built as part of a defense system for the Transylvanian villages exposed to outside invasions. A decisive aspect for building the citadel on the actual location was the route of the invading armies which were coming from the Bran pass and were passing through Rasnov, on their way to Barsei Land. The only chance of survival for the inhabitants of the area was the refuge inside the citadel. Forced to stay there for decades, the people of Rasnov and the nearby villages turned the fortification into a dwelling.

CLUJ NAPOCA

Days 12-15

Our last city to visit is Cluj-Napoca.

Cluj-Napoca, is the unofficial capital of the Transylvania region.

It's home to universities, vibrant nightlife and landmarks dating to Saxon and Hungarian rule.

The reason for it being considered the unofficial capital, is because it rivals only Bucharest in activity and resources.

Surrounding its central square, Piața Unirii, is the Gothic-style St. Michael's Church and the dramatic Matthias Corvinus Statue of the 15th-century king.

The baroque-era Bánffy Palace is now a museum showcasing Romanian art.

3 nights accomodation in Cluj-Napoca.
